I fished today with Bob Himmelreich out of Seaview. We had pretty tough conditions with wind against tide but managed a nice fish of 25 pounds and dropped a couple more. The bluefish were savage and we went through lots of bait but it was worth it. The fish we kept had a tag in it so I will follow up on that and post the results when I receive the report.
Another excellent day on the water with great crew. Captain Al Lorenzetti I fished today with Chris Van Hulse and his son Chris Jr. and we had a good time catching some nice striped bass on live bait. Chris Jr. had the hot hand today and his dad did pretty good too.
It was a little tough with lots of bluefish chewing up the baits but the bass were there too and we had a few up to 28 pounds. The weather was great and so was the crew. Another great day on the water. Captain Al Lorenzetti I fished today with Kevin Ryan and we had a good time dodging the showers all day.
We connected with a 20 pound bass and broke a line on a real good one. The fish are now entering Fire Island inlet and the game is on. Got to go to Trophy Tackle tomorrow and re-spool all my reels. I hate losing a big fish due to tackle failure but it happens. My bad. Sorry no photo today. Side note, giant bluefin in our mud hole. A 362 weighed in today in Freeport. Another great day on the water with a great crew. Captain Al Lorenzetti Skurge of the sea has done it again with the Tuna Ax and a Heavy Duty swivel rod holder. The Tuna ax is used to quickly subdue a tuna that will be kept for the table. Capt. John Nappo shows the proper use in this video.
The swivel rod holder is fabricated of the finest stainless steel ready to battle the biggest giants. http://www.tunafishtackle.com/default.aspx http://www.tunafishtackle.com/skurge-of-the-sea-viking-hammer-1271p/ http://www.tunafishtackle.com/skurge-of-the-sea-swivel-rod-holder-1270p/ The action is happening big time. Striped bass on the pods at Jones Inlet and nearing Fire Island and as a bonus bluefin tuna in the pods. A bluefin weighing in at 66 pounds was weighed in by a striped bass angler. Other anglers had reels stripped by bluefin while fishing for bass. I will be targeting bass on the pods and bringing tuna jigging and spinning outfits as a back up. Next week should provide great action and I have a couple of open days mid to late week. If you want to get on the action then email me at [email protected] to reserve a date. I also have a couple of dates open the following week.I will be running west till I get on the fish.
A 99 inch bluefin was caught in the Mud Hole between Long Island and New Jersey so this is going to be a bluefin tuna year. Get geared up at Trophy Tackle for your jigging and bait fishing tackle. Tell John that I sent you and you will be well taken care of. Now is the time to get a date in my book. Captain Al Lorenzetti I fished today with Luiz DeSalvo and we took advantage of a beautiful day and hit the ocean looking for striped bass. The bass did not cooperate but the big bluefish were more than accommodating. They were running the bunker pods like crazy and chewing like no tomorrow. We stayed on them hoping for a bass and had a good time bending the rods. About noon a whale arrived on the scene and did about 10 big broaches on the pods and I got some good video of one of them. Luiz had never seen this before and was amazed at the sight. I have seen it a number of times but it is still amazing to me. We drifted live bait inside for a while and didn't catch. I think next week will be a hot week with the bass on the pods. When the bluefish move on the bass are right behind. It was a beautiful and fun day on the water and Luiz is great company and an excellent fisherman. Another great day on the water. Captain Al Lorenzetti More Video |
