  The Refurbishing of the Skimmer
The Skimmer has been icon on the Great South Bay since 1978 when Captain Al purchased her brand new. For over 30 Years the 23 Mako has fished inshore and offshore providing life long memories for many anglers. With her hull still strong and a ride soft and dry Captain Al decided to overhaul her instead of moving on to a new boat. Follow the progress all winter long as Captain Al Lorenzetti and friends brings the Skimmer back to new.

I now have a current favorite and it's simply called High Tide and it can be found on the Google play store and Apple app store. I like this app for it's speed of finding tidal information for you current location. This app uses your phone's location and finds the closest tidal prediction station without having to go through a search process or scrolling through a map then clicking around. Read More

Excel Sport Fishing Adventure Preparation with Tactical Anglers ProductsCapt. Al Lorenzetti of Skimmeroutdoors.com is getting ready for a trip of a lifetime on the long range sportfishing boat the Excel. Crazy Alberto Knie of Tactical Anglers has sent a care package of lures along to field test on the biggest Yellow Fin Tuna in the pacific. Fishermen staffer on special assignment aboard the long range Sportfishing vessel ExcelPhotographer and multimedia producer Tim C. Smith has previous traveled to exotic fishing hot spots including Alaska, Mexico and the Galapagos islands. This assignment will be unique for Tim because for seventeen days he will be out to sea on the long range sportfishing boat the Excel. The Excel is the most technically advanced vessel in the San Diego long range fleet. Tim will take advantage the vessel's satellite internet connection to post daily reports from the deck of the Excel. The anglers on this trip are all from the Northeast including Striped Bass sharpie Capt.Al Lorenzetti of Babylon and John Nappo of Trophy Tackle who's shop specializes in the needs of the long range fisherman. John will bring along the latest line of Penn Reels capable of battling the biggest Yellow Fin tuna found in the Pacific.
The Excel will start its journey on February 1st and fish all the way down to Cabo San Lucas. After a short stay in port the Excel will head north and fish it's way back to her home of San Diego. The Largest one day Bass tournament in the north east is back after being canceled due to the devastation of Sandy. The morning started off sloppy with a stubborn east wind that slowly subsided as the day went on. Most of the action was on the outside along the beach on diamond jigs. Curt Selafani aboard the "Blue Crush" had the heaviest Bass. The big Striper fell to a jig off of Sailors Haven and weighed in at 44 3/4 pounds. Chris Hooker on the boat "Spent" had second place with a 35 1/2 pounder caught off Gilgo. The third place fish was caught in the bay by John Willis near the wreck buoy and tipped the scale at 34 1/2 pounds. Check out the link below for the final standings and more images.

Tagging of the Great White Mary LeeBack in September of 2012 a huge Great White was Tagged off the shoreline of Cape Cod by the research team of the OCEARCH. In the short time this shark was tagged so much was learned about the habits of this Great White. Chris Fischer the Expedition Leader Named this Shark Marry Lee after his mother.
