STRIPED BASS FISHING STILL GOING STRONG AROUND FIRE ISLAND

I fished today with Troy, Dillon, Jeff and Linda (left to right) and we had a great morning of fishing.

The bait was thick just outside the inlet and we fished hard and were rewarded with a great catch of bass and bluefish. We had bluefish up to 16 pounds and bass to 32 pounds and we all had a great time.

Another great day on the water with a really great crew.

Thresher on the NEW BOAT

Fished for bass today on the pods with no luck so I put two baits on the bottom and hooked into this 169lb thresher and boated it all by myself on my new contender 28t

MORE FISH ON THE PODS OFF FIRE ISLAND

I fished today with Carl Curcio and we had a good time fishing the pods. Carl wanted to get a nice fish for his 4th of July party and we accomplished that with a nice 30 pound beauty. Carl likes to barbecue the fish whole with a bunch of herbs etc. We gutted, de-gilled and scaled the fish to make it ready. It will be frozen whole and then thawed the day before the big event.

Caught this 10lb beauty between the bridge and fire island inlet yesterday on the incoming tide using your ultimate fluke rig. It hit on a dark green Spro bucktail tipped with a white gulp and a spearing. Thanks for showing how to tie the rig!

Pod Action Still on Around Fire Island

I fished today with Ed, Steve and Richard (left to right) and we worked the bunker pods around Fire Island. It was not red hot fishing and you had to work hard to find the fish but it was worth it.

We ended up with six fish from 28 to 40 pounds and it was a most beautiful day to be on the water with a great crew.

I Fished today with Mark and Anthony and we had a good time catching bass up to 42 pounds on the bunker pods.

It wasn't as hot a bite as yesterday but is was good and fun was had by all.

Huge Bass in Pods off Fire Island Action Red Hot

I fished today with Vincent Caturano and we had a blast catching huge bass on the pods. We had at least a dozen big bass up to 40 pounds on a most beautiful day.

My good pal Captain Rich Santos fishing on his boat "Legend" had a real cow of 52.45 pounds so congratulations to you Rich on a fine catch. He caught the big fish using Makai 60# fluorocarbon leader supplied by John Nappo at Trophy Tackle. Pods Still Hot off Fire Island

I fished today with Kevin Ryan and we had a good time with the bass on the pods. It was not easy and pods were small and tough to find but we did well with 8 fish from 25 to 38 pounds keeping this smaller fish for the table.
