I fished today with Luiz DeSalvo and we took advantage of a beautiful day and hit the ocean looking for striped bass. The bass did not cooperate but the big bluefish were more than accommodating. They were running the bunker pods like crazy and chewing like no tomorrow. We stayed on them hoping for a bass and had a good time bending the rods.
About noon a whale arrived on the scene and did about 10 big broaches on the pods and I got some good video of one of them. Luiz had never seen this before and was amazed at the sight. I have seen it a number of times but it is still amazing to me.
We drifted live bait inside for a while and didn't catch. I think next week will be a hot week with the bass on the pods. When the bluefish move on the bass are right behind.
It was a beautiful and fun day on the water and Luiz is great company and an excellent fisherman.
