Justin Hergert sent this photo from his training facility in Houma, Louisiana. These are the dogs he is currently training. You talk about obedience? He had a magical way with dogs and produces some of the best hunting dogs in the country. Rich Santos' dog Jax is one of his best yet and Jax is incredible both with upland and water retrieves. Rich and I will be going back down there next fall to hunt and fish with Justin and his buddy Kevin. If you ever considered getting a great hunting dog then Justin is the man to talk to. JAX WONDER DOG AT IT AGAIN

Rich Santos, Jax and I did some hunting this holiday weekend. We hunted at Hunter's Garden for pheasant and chukar on Friday and Jax did very well flushing out three pheasants and two chukar. What a great place for working your dog and doing some fine upland hunting. Brian Klug has a beautiful place with a clubhouse, five-stand, pond and just great fields for working dogs. You cam also become a member to deer hunt with bow and arrow in the woods bordering his property. Some big bucks have come out of that property. Membership is very affordable and he is looking for additional members. We hunted the beautiful Peconic River Sportsman's Club on Saturday morning with Jim Conte and had a great time again with Jax retrieving three mallards including a real tough one deep in the brush on the other side of a pond. Jax sat patiently for three hours waiting and watching the sky. No barking, no fidgeting, just all into the hunt. Such a well behaved and well trained dog.
