THE CAPTAINS MEETING WILL STILL BE TOMORROW AT MILLER'S ALE HOUSE IN DEER PARK! I will see you there for some fantastic raffles and auction products. Had a good time today with Josh and his son Jordan. We fished live bait and connected with bluefish up to 14 pounds around Fire Island Inlet. Jordan fought them like a champ.
Captain Al Lorenzetti I fished today with Glen, Jim (AKA Mike) and Angelo. We had some fun with big bluefish on Tady tins around the inlet and connected with the first keeper bass for the season on the "Skimmer". Not big but a keeper so things are looking up.It was a good day but then the wind came on strong and made fishing tough after noon. All said a good day on the water with a great crew.
Captain Al Lorenzetti Suffolk Marine Anglers 10th Annual Striped Bass Tournament is the largest competition held in the spring. The excitement begins with a shotgun start at 6:00am on Sunday June 3rd, 2018 from the Babylon Village Dock. Boundaries are from Moriches inlet to East Rockaway (Debs) inlet and participants must weigh their catch in by 3:30pm. Last year fishermen competed for nearly $20,000 dollars in prize money. Once again money will be raised for Hospice Care Network, a great non profit close to many of the anglers' hearts.
There will also be a catch and release category The winner will receive a prize for the largest in length released striped bass. There are also many other chances to cash in, including a slot fish category, Calcuta blue fish category and a mystery fish. The Captains Meeting will be held at Miller’s Ale House in Deer Park on Thursday, May 31st at 7:30pm. Thousands of dollars in prizes from local and national sponsors will be raffled off at the meeting, and a Chinese auction will be held. They were finning on top like tarpon. This is some great action fishing! Light spinning tackle with top water plugs and other hard baits. 15 pound fish on 12 pound test in shallow water is awesome. Also today some nice bass on live bait inside the inlet. Things are happening now! If you want to fish email me at [email protected] to set a date.
