Another great day on the water with an excellent crew.

I fished today with John, Scott and Mike (left to right in photo) and we had a great time with unlimited action on huge bluefish and bass. We kept a few and released a bunch and had a great time. This was a real good crew who could fish. They picked up quickly on how to work the pods and really put it to them.

Fishing Report for Skimmeroutdoors for weekend of 10/30-11/1 The weather is going to be tough on Friday with high winds out of the northwest but Saturday and Sunday morning look great. Before the storm striped bass were caught on the bunker pods down deep east of Fire Island Inlet. Inside fishing slowed with some fish on shad. Shad are plentiful in all the usual spots and are catching fish. There is a good night bite of bass on eels inside the inlet. No bunker has been seen inside but with cooler weather on the way they should show up. Blackfishing is good on the Fire Island reef with fish to over 10 pounds. The Riverview Striped Bass Tournament is scheduled for Election Day and the captain’s meeting will be Monday 11/2. I will see you there and will be fishing the tournament. It should be a great weather day and fun for all. Trophy Tackle has restocked its supply of Shimano Waxwings and they are super hot on the bass when they are feeding on top. They also have a great selection of jigs both in chrome and gold in hammered style. Offshore if you can get there it’s a great bite on big eye and yellowfin on the chunk both in the day and at night. Captain Al Lorenzetti P.S. no video this week as Tim Smith is on vacation. 10-25-2015
Fishing Report My two sons Jake and Maximus Albanese took 2nd and 4th Place at the BSO Bass tournament held at the Babylon Yacht Club with a 35.05 and 28.08. Big fish was on an artificial the other on an eel. Great day ! Location Fire Inland Inlet Stormy Petrel I received this email from Phil Heilpern regarding the results of the Kismet Striped Bass Tournament. This tournament is a yearly event hosted by the Cole family, the proprietors of the Kismet Inn. This is an invitation tournament with limited entry and it attracts the best striped bass fishermen on the South Shore of Long Island. It is a very prestigious event and winning or placing in it is a lifetime achievement for dedicated striped bass fishermen. This year a good friend Kevin Froelich caught the winning fish on Captain Phil Heilpern's boat and it was no easy achievement. The fishing was tough and the competition was top notch. Also placing second and third was two excellent guys and friends of mine George Yurcak and Ray Bartlett. Congratulations to all both hosts and fisherman. Great day on the water again. Captain Al Lorenzetti Hi Al, we won on my boat "Ovah Here" with a 40.5 lb bass. George and Ray were 2nd and 3rd with 33 and 27 lb fish. Some pics attached. The fish we won with was caught by Kevin. Other crew are Mike Cuozzo pictured with Kevin and Phil and Jack Heilpern. Good to see you out there. Phil I fished with Eric Glasso today and we had a great day of striped bass fishing. Eric is the owner/operator of New Level Contracting Corporation and is doing a great job of lifting my house and doing it quickly. We caught the fish around the inlet and had a great fish of 47 pounds, another 40 a couple of mid thirties and a few mid twenties.
Another great day on the water with a great crew. Captain Al Lorenzetti Well, yesterday was the day of days for bass fishing, 10/19/2015. I headed out with two fellow Peconic River Sportsman brothers, Tony and Bob. As we passed the Moses Bridge I saw fish breaking water. I was thinking maybe bluefish but soon discovered it was all striped bass. They were busting up bait from the bridge to the inlet and all through the Sore Thumb Pocket and all the way up into the Oak Beach lead. Tens of thousands of striped bass on a feeding frenzy like I have never seen. Bait being busted out of the water, tails slapping at the bait and gulping it down. We hit it with surface plugs and it was instant action. I moved away from plugs to simple jigs and the Shimano Waxwing which made it simple to land and release the fish. The fish were from 8 to 20 pounds all mixed sizes. It was non-stop for two hours. We then fished bait and found the big fish with two about 30 pounds. What an incredible day. Will be out there tomorrow (Wednesday) and hoping it may happen again but not counting on it knowing how fishing goes.
Another really great day on the water with a great crew, Tony and Bob. Captain Al Lorenzetti I fished today with Carl Curcio and his son Carl Jr. and we had a good morning with striped bass to 30 pounds. The weather cooperated and all was good in the hood.
