Hot Jig bite and bunker pod action around Fire Island. Trolling MoJos also getting some big fish. Plug action good on schools of bass busting on top. Bluefin tuna on the bass grounds in 50 feet of water. Hot action. I am booked on Thursday but the long range weather report is excellent for flat seas on Thursday, close to shore with a Northwest on Friday and flat calm on the weekend.
This is the time to finish out the season with quality striped bass and maybe a bluefin tuna. I will have bluefin tuna gear on board if it happens. Big surface tuna plugs and jigging outfits. Shoot at Spring Farms. Once again I am going to remind all from last year and hopefully a bunch more who would like to partake in a shoot again at Spring Farms that it is on again for this year specifically on February 11. I would like to see it filled to the max with pheasants and ducks which would require from 36 minimum to 40 maximum to set it up.Give me a call or text me at 516-312-5018 or email at [email protected]. Captain Al Lorenzetti Location western marsh Duck season finally here! Luke and I headed out for a daybreak hunt, not long after setting up the decoys 2 black ducks sailed in with their feet out, Luke took 2 shots with his new Browning Maxus and both ducks fell. Since we had the black duck limit he also shot 2 brant. Later in the day we did an afternoon hunt and he shot a Drake Mallard, good start and Luke is really on point with the new gun..Sorry not to see any other youth hunters, in our area at least. Cant wait for regular season to start and many great days on the marsh this winter... Rich Figlia Matt Koehler of East Islip (right) had the wining fish at the 27th Riverview striped bass tournament. Robert Rommeney (left) was the man with the net, the fish was trolled up to the west on a Mojo. This year there were twelve places the top weight was 41.2 pounds and there was a tie for last place at 29 pounds. Matt donated his winnings to his nephew's foundation Christian Koehler who passed from brain cancer 9 years ago.
I fished today with Frank and his son Frank Jr. We had a great time catching striped bass up to 30 pounds on the bunker pods outside Fire Island Inlet. It was a little windy and cool but the fishing was hot.
Another great day on the water with an excellent crew. Captain Al Lorenzetti |
