On day four we did a bunch of things. We hunted in the morning under tough low water conditions. I was hunting with Nick Santos and we got pretty much stranded. Nick could make it out with the pirro but not with me and the decoys and my bag and gun. We were totally gounded in mud. The water is 5 inches deep but the mud is two feet deep. You fall out of the pirro and you can't get back in because you are stuck in mud so deep you can't get up and out. I had a brilliant thought of letting Nick row out and I would walk across the salt meadows for about a hundred yards but started out and fell into mud holes and had to use my gun to lay across the hammocks to lift myself out of the mud. I made it all of 20 yards and called to Nick to let him know that I had to be rescued. Sure enough Kevin came to save me in the big pirro and we made it back to Benji and got out of there. We rescued a fisherman high and dry and then made it back to camp. We then had a great fish fry and fell asleep after swapping great stories of our adventures. Very interesting day. We saw it all 80 degrees to 40 degrees in a day, crazy wind, crazy ducks, ravenous fish, awesome guns which by the way when you see it almost knocked me on my butt, great people and the wilds of south Louisiana. What a great trip. Captain Al Lorenzetti
