We bucktailed the fluke inside the inlet and found the bluefish in a feeding frenzy in 75 feet of water south of the inlet and slammed them on jigs.
It was an excellent day of fishing with a great crew on a beautiful day.

I fished today with Bill and Nancy out of Seaview. We had a great day of fishing with a bunch of keeper fluke up to 6.5 pounds and all the big bluefish you could catch. Today I fished with Rob and Ben out of Bayshore. We had a great day of fishing starting out with fluke and finishing with bass. We scored a limit of nice fluke using bucktails and Berkley Gulp. We then went on the hunt for bass and finally found some fish. We caught three up to 25 pounds and dropped a bunch of others. The weather was beautiful and the fish were biting. Another great day on the water. Captain Al Lorenzetti Big Fluke in the Bay I fished today with Norman and Julia of Queens, NY and Mark Epstein. We fished out of Saltaire and started the day with some fluke fishing. We caught some great fish and had a great time on the most beautiful of days. We had 8 keepers to 7 pounds and the rest were all good and over 3 pounds. All fish were on bucktails and Berkley Gulp. They were smashing the baits. Bass fishing is slow right now in our area with a fish here and there. We hunted for bass but came up empty. Lots of bait around and just waiting for the next body of fish to show up. It could be tomorrow I hope. There are bass schools at Debs Inlet and off New Jersey so any day it could happen with the bait living in our area. Another excellent day on the water. Captain Al Lorenzetti This is the rig that has worked real well on the Fluke. I fished today with Wes Little of the Seaview Market. We had an excellent morning of striped bass fishing with 6 fish to 35 pounds. The weather was tough with a stiff east wind blowing but we managed to catch a bunch of nice fish. Wes and I always fish together down in Florida during the winter and he is always real busy in the store but he broke away for a few hours and it payed off and we had a good time fishing together. Captain Al Lorenzetti Wes working a nice 35 pound fish to the boat. I fished today with Tony Daidone and his son-in-law Art. Art is holding up the prize catch a nice 43 pound bass. We had an excellent morning of striped bass fishing catching a bunch of fish up to 43 pounds on live bait. The weather cleaned up and the fishing was good. Another excellent day on the water. Captain Al Lorenzetti The bass fishing got hot again if you know where to go. I have Tuesday and Thursday of this week open and it looks like the weather will be great and the fishing spectacular. Email me if you want to fish and catch a trophy. [email protected].
With no wind and the tide right where I like it (ebbing) I decided to take my wife out fishing for an hour or so. We fished the west end of the east west channel and within an hour we had 8 Fluke including a 22" keeper that I released. Spro Bucktail tipped with Gulp and a traditional Fluke rig with a 4" mullet curly tail was the key.
Tim C. Smith Today I fished with Woody and Lou out of Seaview. We had a good day but worked hard for fish. Here is the crew with a 28 pound fish for the table. We had a bunch of misses but that is the way it goes. The bluefish are relentless and tearing up all the good live bait. Bunker schools were sparse today and it was tough getting bait and tougher getting into fish. The weather was great and we enjoyed an excellent day on the water. P.S. Today, believe it or not, I saw school bluefin tuna south of the head buoy in 50 feet of water. This was confirmed by another buddy who said 30 to 50 pound bluefin were busting water from south of the Fire Island Lighthouse to the Hilton Castle wreck. They are probably just moving through but it looks like we might have a good inshore bluefin bite this season. Get out the jigging sticks and tuna popping gear and give it a go. Be ready for it because if you are not you will miss a great opportunity. I will have my tuna gear on board from here on. Captain Al Lorenzetti Today I fished with Steve Rogers and his buddies Chris who is always with him And Sandor who is new to the group. We had a great day of striped bass fishing and Sandor showed how to do it. We had bass on the bunker pods and whales running around. Sandor had a 48 pound fish which you see here. He also had a 40 and a 38. All the fish were big and Steve and Chris also had fish in the upper 30's. Below are a couple of video segments shot with my new GoPro Hero camera. The last video of the whale is shot with my Olympus Stylus camera. Another excellent day on the water. Captain Al Lorenzetti The end of the day with the backyard shot of the crew. Chris, Steve and Sandor left to right with a super catch of quality striped bass. Captain Al Lorenzetti I fished with Pete Sikinger and his dad Pete today. We worked hard for a couple of fish and a few misses but it was a good day on the water. We saw whales feeding on the bunker pods which was exciting. The fish were taken on live bunker. The pods were pretty slow and most people didn't go anything on them today except for the very early morning before the boat traffic. The wind came up which made things a little tough but we prevailed for some nice striped bass dinners for the Sikinger family. Another excellent day on the water. Captain Al Lorenzetti |
