There are monster blues and some bass to 25 pounds on the bunker schools in the ocean. The wrecks are loaded with big seabass, monster porgies and blackfish. Also false albacore on light spin tackle is happening.

I will be running ocean pod fishing with stops on wrecks for bottom fishing starting October 1st when the weather permits. Fish the pods early then work off to wrecks or jig blues and bass to the east of the inlet. If you want to get in on this fishing just drop me an email at  [email protected].

The first of the striper run is just starting to happen. There are fish from 15 to 22 pounds with an occasional fish up to 30 pounds on bait around the inlet area. A few fish on plugs but this should improve daily.

If you want to get in on the fall run or the mixed bag ocean fishing then now is the time to book a date to just get in on my calendar. We can almost always move the date if something comes up but if you are not in the book then it can't be done. A bunch of prime dates are already gone but many more are still available.

Also, on an important note, the Suffolk Marine Anglers Fall Striped Bass Tournament is set to go on 10/16 with captain's meeting on Wednesday 10/12 at Millers Ale House in Deer Park. This is a great tournament. It is low key with excellent money for place winners and calcutta catagories for both striped bass and bluefish. Come down and join the fun. I will see you there!

Today I fished with Howard, his wife Laura and their kids Alex and Izzy.

We had a lot of fun fishing today and the fishing was good. It looks like things are getting back to normal after the storm.

We found weakfish feeding and had a blast catching a bunch and our limit of 4 fish up to about 3 pounds. We also caught a lot of short fluke and some small seabass and blowfish.

The kids had a ball and so did the adults. It was another great day on the water.

Today I fished with Salem and his son Dale. It was a beautiful day, the calm before the storm. It was like the fish sensed trouble was coming as the fishing was very slow. 

We caught some short fluke and loads of lizard fish. I have never seen so many of these fish before. At best I would catch one or two a season but this year has been very different.

It was slow fishing but a great day on the water.
