I fished today with Kevin Ryan and his friend Al. We had a great day of fishing for striped bass. There were herring in the inlet and we caught a bunch on Sabiki rigs. We fished them by the six can and it was non stop action with fish up to about 20 pounds. When we ran out of bait we switched to plugs on the inlet bars and rips and had non-stop action.

There was a red hot bite on striped bass today east of Fire Island Inlet by Davis Park on jigs. Fish to 50 pounds.
We had fish in the inlet area on plugs to 20 pounds. Fishing is red hot so get out there. It looks like it will blow tomorrow but Sunday looks like the day to run. Captain Al Lorenzetti Today I fished with Mike Gantcher and his guests Craig and John (center, left and right). We had a small window of opportunity to fish in the morning. We tried plugging several spots with no luck. I think most of the fish have left the back bay areas. We fished eels near the inlet and scored with a bass of about 15 pounds. It was a nice day and we all had a good time. Another excellent day on the water. Captain Al Lorenzetti Here is Mark fighting a nice fish to the boat I fished today with Mark Epstein and Anthony DeBlasio. We had a great day of striped bass fishing in the ocean to the east of Fire Island Inlet. It was red hot fishing all morning on jigs and plugs. There is a huge amount of bait and fish in the area. We also had bluefish to 15 pounds and the action was non stop. It was a most beautiful day on the ocean with not any wind at all. There were so many fish I logged it on my Lowrance recorder for future reference. I don't thing I have ever seen a screen so loaded with fish. Here is Mark fighting a nice fish to the boat. Today I fished the Riverview Striped Bass Tournament with Tom Reilly, Jim and Bill on Tom's 32 Regulator "Life of Reilly". We had a great day of fishing with over 40 bass on jigs and plugs in the ocean. We did place at #15 with a fish just over 24 pounds caught on a plug in 70 feet of water. The fish were on top and the big yellow Danny plugs worked well but our winning fish was caught on a Gary Soldati Blue plug and was caught by Tom. The Tournament winner was caught by Billy Connaughton on Ray Bartlet's boat and weighed just over 33 pounds and was caught on a jig in the ocean. The winner of the Striped Bass Release Photo Contest is Mike Nelson and he will receive a $500 prize donated by Ray Bartlet of the UPS stores in Babylon and Long Beach. The action is fantastic in the ocean 10 to 15 miles east of Fire Island Inlet. A great day on the water. Captain Al Lorenzetti |
