I fished today with Luiz DeSalvo and his friends Mike and Mike's dad Jim (left to right) out of Fair Harbor.

We had a typical late August mixed bag of fishing. The highlight of the day was a limit of weakfish in the 3 to 5 pounds range. In addition we had a half dozen keeper seabass and a few bluefish plus a blowfish. All kept cool and ready to become a great meal.

Very interesting that this is a weakfish year. This is the first good catch of these fish I have had in the last 6 years. I think we might be having a resurgence of this great game fish. Hopefully next year will be a great one for this prize of the Great South Bay.

We fluke fished in the ocean but only caught short fish. That was disappointing. The weather was beautiful and all had a good time.

Today I fished with Doug DeLorenzo of Wayside Fence and Babylon Boat Works and his daughter Jo. It was our annual before school fishing trip. Jo really likes to fish and is good at it. 

I was kept busy replenishing the Berkley Gulp baits as the little seabass were tearing them to shreds.

The fishing left a lot to be desired. It was a slow pick of short fluke, small seabass, bluefish and blowfish.

We had a good time on a beautiful morning and brought home a few fish for the table.

Jo was impressed with the blowfish doing it's thing.

It was another memorable day on the water with a great crew.

Today I fished out of Fair Harbor with Luiz, his daughter Carolina and his friend Mike Steiner and his son Sam (right to left).

We had a good morning of fishing. The fishing was pretty slow at first as it was the last of the ebb tide and fluke fishing around the inlet was almost non-existent. 

We moved into the back bay areas and found some fish. We caught a whole bunch of little throwback seabass and small weakfish but did land a keeper weakfish and nice keeper fluke. 

It was good action and everyone had some fun. Sam showed great improvement on his technique as the day progressed. By the end of the morning he was doing a number on the fish and mastered the art of jigging a bucktail.

I fished today with Mike Stough and his son Turner out of Saltaire. 

We tried a lot of things but struck out on most except for seabass fishing on the reef. 

We caught some beautiful seabass as you can see with Turner holding a 5 pound and 4 pound double header.

We had a bunch of other good sized fish as well.

We made a good day out of a tough day and had a good time.

Another excellent day on the water with a great crew.

I fished today with Brad Brown, Ginny and Rob (center, right and left) out of Saltaire.

We had a good day of fishing with a nice catch of seabass and fluke.

Fluke fishing was better in the inlet than it was in the ocean. We had four keeper fluke and about a dozen legal size seabass. The seabass were caught in the ocean on a little piece that if found. 

We probably caught 40 or 50 fluke mostly shorts but lots of action.

I fished today with Norbert Schwarz, Luca DeSalvo, Carolina DeSalvo and Luiz DeSalvo out of Fair Harbor (left to right). We fished a morning trip and caught about 40 fluke in Fire Island Inlet. We had one keeper but lots of fun on a hot day.

The kids were great and Norbert and Luiz helped me out a lot working with the kids and helping them with the catch.
