Set up a chum slick and had the fish coming. I culled through 8 fish and kept the two best, one of which was 2.55 pounds.
It was fun to finally have some good flounder action.
Another great day on the water.

The Flounder fishing in the ocean has been red hot! Captain Robbie of the Captree Princess had the boat on the fish all day long. Many fish over 3 pounds. I was on the water with Tom Schlicter of The Fisherman shooting photographs and video for some upcoming features.
Tim C. Smith 4/4/2012 Today was the maiden voyage for the Skimmer. I fished with Ray Bartlett and we did some exploring. I got a report of mackerel outside of Fire Island Inlet and supposedly a big bluefin was taken in the bait schools. I investigated and didn't see much. I marked a big school of bait on the bottom and I think they were bunker. We tried jigging on small patches of bait but no results. We then worked over some flounder spots and had some success. We limited out with four fish just average size but they were alive and the first fish on the boat this season. Clam Pond area was best for us. Here are my two beauties and they will make a nice meal tomorrow. Ray chose to let me keep the catch so I have enough for a nice meal of Great South Bay flounder. Can't wait. Here is Ray with his fish. He likes to show the white side to make them look bigger but there was no way for these to look large. Not bragging size today but we had fun and the the day was beautiful. A nice start to the new season. Captain Al Lorenzetti Capt. Al invited me out on a exploratory Flounder trip. Our intention was to shoot some flounder footage. We tried six spots, 4 or 5 slugs of chum, mussels, worms and even Berkly gulp and not even a nibble between the both of us. We did pass one boat that had a Flounder and that was in the area around Frank and Dicks.
