We won it with George's beautiful 43.95 pound striped bass. We caught it late in the day with just enough time to make weigh-in. As George said it was a "Whistle" fish.
The fishing was a little tough today with all the boat traffic which sent the bass scattering but the bait is there and the fishing will be great for at least the next month. We are only at the beginning of the big run. We had fun and rocked to the music when times were tough. We never gave up and ran all over the place putting the baits in the right spot and eventually with some skill and a lot of luck landed on the winner. Sometimes it works. A 34 year old boat did it today.
The Tournament was a great success thanks to Suffolk Marine and Miller's Ale House who sponsored the event. All went smoothly with 23 boats fishing. The Captain's Meeting at Miller's on June 1st was a great night with super raffle prizes from Millers, West Marine, and Suffolk Marine Angler's. The Awards Barbecue this afternoon was great with Carlos cooking up a storm. Many great anglers fished hard today with varied success but all did their best. Thanks to all of you for being a part of a really good day.
Everyone was pleased with the event and and it was a great success.
We are having a summer fluke contest and another bass contest in the fall. Once again they will be sponsored by Suffolk Marine Anglers and Miller's Ale House.
Congratulations George.
P.S. I have Thursday and Friday open and the fishing is great so if you want to land a big one email me at [email protected].
