I took a boat ride today with Skimmer, breaking in the new Pro XS OptiMax. I was amazed to see all the seals sitting on the OBI sandbar.
When I passed by they spooked and took off with lots of white water.
I watched the sand replenishment project for a little while. Giant earth mover trucks are picking up sand from a huge mountain left by the first dredge company on the job.
They get filled up and then head for the traffic circle to replenish the missing sand.
A word of extreme caution. Be very careful while passing Captree. There is a dredge working right by Captree Boat Basin and its pipe runs south right to and across the south beach. There is one passing point marked by a red and green buoy about 100 yards north of the south beach.
Right now the inlet is still the same as it was at the end of last season. The Army Corp is coming to dredge the inlet proper.
