As you can see from the photos (you can see the old dock in the foreground) we were in the new inlet that breached Fire Island from Super Storm Sandy. From the aerial photo you can see the area is surrounded by sand bars like a Delta both on the North and South side of FI. In order for use to get to "The Spot" from the North side we had to get out of my 22 Whaler and push it over the sand bars. The results were spectacular with a number of Bass from 38 to 45 Lbs. GSB Fishing Report My friend Anthony and I had a blast catching and releasing over 40 Bass up to 20lbs. Found the fish stacked 2 nights in a row gorging on spearing. Most fish were in the 32-35 inch range with 39 the biggest. Great fun on light spinning tackle. 1 fish kept for the table the rest safely released.. A memorable 2 nights the second being Anthony's birthday! Things are heating up... Rich Figlia |
