We got to Saltaire and Ted was ready to get it going. He previously had the kids make up bamboo poles and had spearing ready to bait them up. Ted introduced us and Rich and I gave a little pep talk including some background information about baby bluefish otherwise known as "snappers." We talked about safety and how to bait hooks and answered some questions the kids had and then we fished.
We had two groups for an hour each. The first group were the 10 to 12 year old and the second group were the 8 to 10 year old.
What a great bunch of kids and the camp assistant crew were excellent in keeping it organized and under control.
There were a good number of snappers caught and a few small seabass.
It was such a fun time and I don't know if we or the kids had the best time.
Rich and I are in for it again next year for sure and I am already looking forward to it.
Another most excellent day on the water with an excellent crew and some great kids and camp leaders and staff at Saltaire, Fire Island, New York.
