Babylon Village- This year the Suffolk Marine Anglers Spring Striped Bass tournament is shaping up to be the biggest yet. The excitement begins with a shotgun start 6:00 am on June 8th from the Babylon Village Dock. Anglers can fish from Moriches inlet to East Rockaway (Debs) inlet and must weigh their catch in by 3:30. The event is well attended by non fisherman as well who come out to see the fish. Each year the amount of spectators watching the weigh-in at the village dock has increased substantially. The afternoon finishes up with prize money and awards being handed out on the stage.
This competition is known for having many of the south shore’s sharpest fisherman participating. Once again money will be raised for a great non profit close to many of the fisherman’s hearts, Hospice Care Network. Miller’s Ale house will be contributing in a big way by providing hot food and beverages at the weigh in as well as helping out a family devastated by superstorm “Sandy”.
The captains meeting will be held at Miller’s Ale House in Deer Park at 7:30pm Thursday June 5th. Thousands of dollars in prizes from local sponsors will be raffled off at the meeting. More information is available from the www.suffolkmarineanglers.com
