I had the great pleasure of accompanying Rich Santos on a trip to pick up his new hunting retriever at Southern Way Retrievers in Houma, Louisiana. His dog Jax, a yellow Labrador was trained by Justin Hergert. We flew down to New Orleans and took in the sights including Bourbon Street. We then hooked up with Justin and spent two days with him learning all the things he taught Jax. He is really incredible with the dogs that he trains and they can do incredible things. We met a few of Justin's friends who help him out on occasion. Kevin and Jeremy are great guys and we all had a blast working Jax and the other dogs Justin is training at this time. We all went out to dinner including the wives and had an awesome taste of fine Louisiana food. On Sunday 9/28 we started the drive home with Jax and it was a tough trip with rain all the way for three days but it was well worth it. I have posted below three videos. In the first Rich is handling Jax on a blind retrieve. The last two are taken at the end of the training session when Justin lets the dogs socialize or just have fun with each other.
