Herring run

Fishing Report
NOAA posted Gale warnings yesterday, so not too much boat traffic. At sun up we loaded the livewell with herring ran to the pollock rip and had doubles and tripes each drift. Caught on the outgoing, slack and the incoming til we ran out of bait. The herring run in Montauk usualy signals the end of the season. Is this true ? Great day Captain Brian. thanks again.

Fishing Report
Fins Up Fishing has moved south. My boat is based out of Black Point, minutes from Biscayne Bay and the Deep blue Atlantic. 20 minutes from the dock we drop in our trolling spread. and not long after were covered up with dolphin from 8 to 20 lbs. After taking a few for the table and releasing a few more we headed into reef and put a hurting on the spanish and ciro macs on light spinning gear and surface plugs. If your planning a trip to the Miami or Key Largo area let Captain Al know and he will put you in touch with me.

We had 20 yft to 80lbs including a dozen mahi mahi with a flurry of about 15 of them taken within an hour and a half on the jig and chunk over night. We found ourselves 80ft thick with bait and tuna on our depth sounder. So we took advantage and from 2:00am until a little before 4:00am we were nonstop. The troll in the morning was also very productive however we had our boat filled and the weather was kicking up. Dropped about a dozen more yft on the jig along with a monster that spooled a crew member’s battle tested cape cod bluefin set up. The action was outstanding and it was a fantastic way to conclude the canyon season! Location was Atlantis canyon in the 500 ft depth.

All the best and keep in touch!

Billy with a fish of 46lbs- 49 ½
The Fall Bass run has started!
Captain Al and I fished out of FI Inlet on Monday and found plenty
of bunker schools of which mostly held bluefish with an occasional
bass mixed in. There were small false albacore all over the place
which provide some reel light tackle fun. But the word is out and the
fall run has started in Montauk.
Billy, from Appearance Plus, and I spent Tuesday and today out
there and although it was windy we crushed the bass. Eels worked well,
especially at night. It was total Lock and Load and on 4 tides of
fishing we landed some 50 fish. We found the night bite the best under
the full moon on the flood tide, unbelievable fishing. During the day
we tried some tricks with porgies for bigger fish and found them. Here
is Billy with a fish of 46lbs- 49 ½ inches had it bin a little fatter
it would have tip the scales easily at 50+. I will be headed out to
Montauk again next week and if anyone else is around and wants to hook
up give a call. I will keep you posted.
Get ready guys the fish are on there way, now is the time to start
booking your trips with Captain Al!

I fished today on the Prime Time III. We had a great Evening of Bass and Blue fishing. Our mate Matt was attentive and always good for a quote. " We try to have fun and put meat in the boat" was my personal favorite. Our captain Mike put us on the fish immediately and the fun pursued. If your readers find themselves in Orient Point and are looking for an open boat to fish, I highly recommend the Prime Time III. Look for them at  WWW. Primetime3.com
