Headed out after work, tried plugging the incoming, couldn't raise a fish, water was dirty even tried a rattle plug. Picked up friends at captree and caught a bunch of blues by the wreck buoy. Tried for some weakfish near West Island and Kismet but to no avail. Next drifted some live eels and connected with 2 Bass around 15lbs on the outgoing. Here is my friend Anthony with a 35 inch 15lb Bass. Still waiting for water to clean up, hopefully the big boys are on the way..

 Fire Island Inlet
The Bunker schools have been sitting just outside the inlet at the whistle buoy for a couple of days now and there has been no real action. So Billy and I decided to sneak out today at first light and see if that would work. Nadda we work hard to snag 8 pieces and not a touch so we ran them into the inlet and tried our favorite spots and
did produce 5 fish but they were all small as you can see. The biggest may have gone 20lbs, if I kept my thumb on the scale. So far the spring has been a bust no big fish yet. There are weakfish to be had on sandworms but they too are small 2 to 5 lbs.

Fishing Report
Headed out after work, went to a favorite rip line to catch the last of the incoming. Managed one Bass (10lbs) on a plug. Picked up some friends at captree and switched to throwing bass assassins and storm shads. We boated 9 Bass up to 36 inches and lost a few. Windy and cold, another note, my friend Brian casted one of my rods and reel into the bay lol... Great night, happy to get the first Bass of the season... Rich

It was back to Montauk today for Frankie and I with Billy Wax joining us. The bass action is still holding up and here again is Frankie with another fish just over 40lbs. The photo was taken at Westlake Marina in Montauk which was buzzing with fisherman. We saw all sorts of fish being cleaned and photograph. There seems to be a good bite on a number of different species at this time. Now is the time to make a trip and target your favorite fish.   Also there were rumors of another large striper coming from Block Island, this one allegedly weighing in at some 82+ lbs beating the recent fish of 81+ weigh in Connecticut which was caught off the North Fork. Let’s see if the rumors pan out. But with that in mind next week I will be shifting gears and fishing out of Orient Point. I will keep you posted. But in the mean time head out to Montauk it is happening!

Without saying the fluking has been good as it ever has been, but it
was time to return and do what I love most.

Today Frankie owner of Francesco's Restaurant & Pizzeria and I towed
my BW out to Montauk and were rewarded for our efforts. Pictured is
Frankie holding a Trophy 44lb+ linesider one of many stripers caught
on the day. For you bass lovers please note the water temp at the
point was only 66 degrees, and when we found the fish it was lock and
load the bait was large legal size porgies.

Fishing Report
After all the local fisherman were playin golf on Friday afternoon, we had to get back out on the water Saturday morning. Capt. Surly put us on the fish again east of the inlet. All the fish were huge and let's just say Wilbur's fish was a 50 pounder! And a few pics releasing a 40 pounder.

Fishing Report
Went west to find the bunker scattered. Managed to catch a decent number of bunker and headed back to the inlet. My buddy Rich and I picked up five bass, the largest 38" but was so thick the tail appeared to belong to a much smaller fish. Got some nice thick filets from the "fat one". Great weather and calm seas!
